The color of leaves on a plant is dependent on the type of chlorophyll present in them.

Explanation:

Chlorophyll is an important pigment in the process of photosynthesis.

Chlorophyll A is the most common type of chlorophyll. This type of chlorophyll absorbs red and blue and gets its color by reflecting green and thus green color of leaves.

Chlorophyll is not the only pigment. There are other accessory pigments. It is that chlorophyll has a stronger absorption than other molecules. This more intense, reflected green can mask the other less reflected colors.

When the accessory pigments are more concentrated, as in blue-green algae, the other colors can be seen.
