Correct Answer - (a) `2 Omega`
(b) `8 Omega`.
(i) In (Fig. 3.23), resistance in the arm `AEB`, i.e., `R_1 = 3 Omega + 3 Omega = 6 Omega`
As `R_1(= 6 Omega) and 3 Omega` (in arm AB) are in parallel, effective resistance between the points `A and B`, i.e.,
`R = (6 xx 3)/(6 + 3) Omega = 2 Omega`
(ii) Since the effective resistance between points `A and B(i.e., 2 Omega)` and in the arm `AC(= 3 Omega)` and arm `BD(= 3 Omega)` are in series, effective resistance between the points `C and D = 2 + 3 + 3 = 8 Omega`.
