The solubility product of a salt BA at room temperature is 1.21 × 10-6. Its molar solubility is :

(a) 1.21 × 10-3 M

(b) 1.1 × 10-4 M

(c) 1.1 × 10-3 M

(d) 1.21 × 10-2 M

Best answer

Correct option is : (C) \(1.1 × 10^{-3} M\)

\(BA \rightleftharpoons B^+ + A^-\)

Let say solubility of BA = SM

\(K_{sp} = [B^+] \ [A^-]\)

\(1.21 \times 10^{-6} = S \times S\)

\(S^2 = 1.21 \times 10^{-6}\)

\(S = 1.1 \times 10^{-3} M\)
