Correct Answer - Option 4 : 6, 6

CONCEPT:

In an atom's notation, ZXA ; z is an atomic number and A is the mass number.

  • Protons and neutrons lie in the nucleus of an atom and electrons revolve around the nucleus.

Atomic number (Z) = number of protons (p)

Atomic mass number (A) = number of protons (p) + number of neutrons (n)

No. of protons = Z

No of neutrons = A - Z

CALCULATION:

The Carbon atom is presented by 6C12

Z = 6 and A = 12

No. of protons (p) = Z = 6

No of neutrons (n) = A - Z = 6

So the correct answer is option 4.
