A ray of light is incident on a glass surface of refractive index 1.732 at polarizing angle. Calculate the angle of refraction of the ray –

Correct Answer - Option 1 : 30o

We know, \(\tan {i_p} = \mu \Rightarrow {i_p} = {\tan ^{ - 1}}1.732 \Rightarrow {i_p} = 60^\circ \)

Where ip is the polarizing angle.

So the incident angle, i = 60o

Refraction angle will be = 90o – i = 30o
