Correct Answer - Option 5 :

x = y or relation between x and y can not be established.

Given:

I. 9x2 - √625 = 0

II. 12y2 - 40y - 23 = 0

Calculation:

From I,

9x2 - √625 = 0

9x2 = 25

⇒ x2 = 25/9

⇒ x = ±√(25/9)

⇒ x = ±(5/3)

⇒ x = 5/3 or (-5/3)

From II,

12y2 - 40y - 23 = 0

12y2 - 46y + 6y - 23 = 0

⇒ 2y(6y - 23) + 1(6y - 23) = 0

⇒ (6y - 23)(2y + 1) = 0

Taking,

⇒ (6y - 23) = 0 or (2y + 1) = 0

⇒ y = (23/6) or (-1/2)

Comparison between x and y (via Tabulation):

Value of x

Value of y

x = y or relation between x and y can not be established.
