Correct Answer - Option 3 : Pressure relief valve

Explanation:

In the engine following types of lubrication systems are used

  • Petrol-oil lubrication
  • Dry sump lubrication
  • Splash lubrication
  • Pressurized lubrication
  • Combined lubrication

Pressurized lubrication system: In this system, the lubricating oil is circulated to all the moving parts of the engine under pressure, by the oil pump driven by the camshaft. The oil for lubrication is taken from the sump by an oil pump through the strainer.

A pressure relief valve is provided in the path between the oil pump and filter. The relief valve limits the maximum pressure of the oil in the system.

1.) Oil filter:

  • The oil filter helps remove contaminants from your car engine's oil that can accumulate over time as the oil keeps your engine clean. Clean motor oil is important because if the oil were left unfiltered for a period of time, it could become saturated with tiny, hard particles that can wear surfaces in your engine.

2.) Pressure Switch:

  • A pressure switch is a device that operates an electrical contact when preset fluid pressure is reached. The switch makes an electrical contact on either pressure rise or pressure fall from a certain preset pressure level.

3.) Lubrication pump motor:

  • Lubricating oil pumps are used to supply oil to lubrication points, e.g. for plain bearings. They are submersible pumps that rest directly on the oil reservoir and have a throttling bush at the shaft passage, instead of a conventional shaft seal. The oil leakage thus runs directly back into the oil reservoir.
