Nek Chand Saini is a self-taught Indian artist, known for building the Rock Garden of Chandigarh, an eighteen-acre sculpture garden in the city of Chandigarh.
He was a roads inspector for the Public Works Department in India's first modern planned City Chandigarh who was was awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India in 1984.
In 1982, a postage stamp was issued with his work on it.
He passed away on June 12, 2015.
The garden is now cared for by his son, Anuj Saini, and the Nek Chand Foundation.
