Correct Answer - Option 4 : IRDAI

The correct answer is IRDAI:

  • Mashak Rakshak, India’s first standardised medical insurance policy for vector-borne diseases, has been suggested by the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority (Irda).
  • This policy will offer a maximum sum assured between Rs 10,000 and Rs 2 lakh on diagnosis and hospitalization for diseases such as dengue, malaria, chikungunya and Zika fever.
  • IRDAI announced the guidelines on Feb 3, 2021, for the policy and encouraged all general and health insurers to offer Standard Vector-Borne Disease health policy.
  • This health policy can preferably be available by 1 April 2021.
  • The tenure of the policy will be 12 months and can be renewed by paying premium after the end of the 12 month period.
  • The plan should be a uniform one for all geographies and there should not be any location or zone-based pricing.
  • Vector-borne diseases generally happen from an infection transmitted to humans and other animals by blood-feeding insects like mosquitoes, ticks, etc.
  • For instance, vector-borne diseases can include Dengue fever, Malaria, etc.
