The correct answer is The state of Mysore was renamed Tamil Nadu.

  • After Independence, the Mysore State was created in 1953, wherein all the Kannada dominant areas under different dispensations were unified and the enlarged Mysore state carved in 1956 and was renamed Karnataka in 1973.
  • Karnataka State is situated between 11°31' and 18°14' north latitudes and 74°12' and 78°10'.
  • There are 5 National Parks and 23 Wildlife sanctuaries.
  • Karnataka state and Bengaluru city, in particular, have become the largest bio-clusters in the country.

 

  • The state of Bombay
    • There shall be formed a new State to be known as the State of Gujarat comprising the following territories of the State of Bombay.
    • The residuary State of Bombay shall be known as the State of Maharashtra.
  • Himachal Pradesh
    • Bilaspur was merged with Himachal Pradesh on 1st July 1954. Himachal Pradesh became Union Territory on 1st November 1956.
    • Kangra and most of the other hill areas of Punjab were merged with H.P. on 1st November 1966 though its status remained that of a Union Territory.
  • Goa
    • Comprised in the Goa District of the Union Territory of Goa, Daman, and Diu as the State of Goa and the territories comprised in the Daman and Diu districts of that Union territory as new Union Territory of Daman and Diu.
