The correct answer is Both A and B are wrong.

  • There are four seismic zones in India namely Zone II, Zone III, Zone IV, Zone V.
  • Due to the high frequency of earthquake in Rajasthan falls under zone two, three and four. Hence Both the statements A and B are wrong.
  • Seismic zones in order of the intensity of Earthquake are from Zone V to Zone II.
  • Zone V is highly prone and Zone II is least prone to frequent Earthquakes. 

  • Regions that fall under Earthquake(seismic) Zones in Rajasthan:
    • Zone IV-Some parts of Barmer, Jalore, Alwar, and Bharatpur.
    • Zone III-Some parts of Udaipur, Dungarpur, Sirohi, Barmer, Jaisalmer, Bikaner, Jhunjhunu, Parts of Sikar, Jaipur, Dausa, and Bharatpur.
    • Zone II-Ganganagar, Hanumangarh, Churu, Jodhpur, Pali, Rajasamand, Chittorgarh, Jhalawar, Baran, Kota, Bundi, Sawai Madhopur, Karauli, Dholpur, Banswara, some areas of Bikaner, Udaipur, Jhunjhunu, Sikar, and Jaipur.

    • Zone-V covers entire northeastern India, some parts of Jammu and Kashmir, some parts of Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rann of Kutch in Gujarat, some parts of North Bihar and Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
    • Zone-IV covers remaining parts of Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh and Himachal Pradesh, Union Territory of Delhi, Sikkim, northern parts of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and West Bengal, parts of Gujarat and small portions of Maharashtra near the west coast and Rajasthan.
