Given: Two circles with centres A and B, whose radii are 8 cm and 5 cm. 

[∵ AC = 8 cm, AB = 3 cm ⇒ BC = 8 – 3 = 5 cm]

Area of the shaded region = (Area of the larger circle) – (Area of the smaller circle)
