Alluvial soils. These cover 45% land of India :
- Alluvial soil is deposited by rivers.
- These soils are limited to river basins and plains.
- These are very fertile soils.
- These consist of fine-grained. clay and sand.
- These soils are rich in potash, but poor in phosphorus.
- These are usually deep soils.
Types:
(a) Khadar soils
(b) Bangar soils.
(a) Khadar soils are new alluvial soils while
(b) Bangar soils are old alluvial soils.
