One main scale division in a vernier callipers is 1 mm and there are 20 equal divisions on the vernier scale which match with 16 main scale divisions. What will be the least count for this veriner callipers?

Correct option is (C) 0.05 mm

Given, total number on vernier scale = 20

The value of smallest part on main scale = 1 mm

Least count = \(\frac{\text{The value of smallest part on main scale}}{\text{Total number on vernier scale}}\)

\(=\frac1{20}mm\)

\(= 0.05 mm\)
