It is a single layer of flat-scale-shaped cells.
This tissue makes up the inner lining of the mouth and blood vessels.
It allows the transportation of substances through a selective permeable surface in the lining of food vessels or lung alveoli.
It also makes the mesothelial lining of the body cavities.
