Best answer

Speed of the train in meters per second is:

40 kmph = 40km x 1000m/km x h/60m x m/60s = 11.11 m/s

The time it takes to go 200m (pass the train by the man) = 200m/11.11m/s =

approximately (d) 18 seconds

Correct option is (d) 18

Length of train = distance = 200 m

Speed of train = 40 × \(\frac 5{18} = \frac{100}9\) m/s

Required time = \(200 \div \frac{100}9 = 18\) sec
