acid is a substance that can donate or accept a proton. it is generally sour to taste and it turns blue litmus to red colour

An acid is a chemical species that donates protons or hydrogen ions and/or accepts electrons.

E.g.- HCl, H2SO4, etc.

Properties of acids-

  1. pH is less than 7.
  2. Turns blue litmus paper to red.
  3. Reacts with metal to produce hydrogen gas.
  4. Sour taste.
