Plasmodium sps.

Gametocytes develop in red blood cells of humans.

Life-cycle:

Sporozoites are injected with the bite of Anopheles mosquito into the body.

Sporozoites reach the liver through blood

Parasite reproduces asexually in the liver cells, and by bursting the liver cells enter the blood.

They enter the red blood cells

Parasites reproduce asexually in red blood cells and by bursting them release haemozoin which causes cycles of fever

Parasites enter new red blood cells
