As we can see, there are 3 high school students for every 10 junior high students.

Let us assume that the number of high school students participating in the tug of war is ‘x’. So, the proportion equation will look like this,

10 : 3 = 70 : x

We can write the equation as,

\(\frac{10}{3} = \frac{70}{x}\)

10x = 70 x 3

10x = 210

x = 21

Hence, there are 21 high school students participating in the tug of war contest.
