Correct option is 2) insufficient production of insulin in her body.

The deficiency of insulin in the body increases the glucose level higher than 174 milligrams per deciliter (mg/dl). Insulin is a peptide hormone secreted by the pancreas. The beta cells of the pancreatic islets of Langerhans release insulin in response to food. The normal range of glucose levels in the body of a non-diabetic person is 70-99 mg/dL. A glucose level in blood less than 140 mg/dL is reasonable. A glucose level in the blood of more than 200 mg/dL signifies diabetes. A glucose level in the blood between 140 and 199 mg/dL indicates prediabetes.
