A Motor-Boat whose speed is 24 km/h in still water takes 1 hour more to go 32 km upstream than to return downstream to the same spot. Find the speed of the stream.

Nice problem.  Let "t" be the time that it took for the motor-boat to return downstream.  Let "w" be the speed of the stream. This gives us two equations:

32km = (24 - w)(t + 1)  and  32km = (24 + w)(t)

Solving we get the speed of the stream to be 8 km/h
