The Balmer series consists of the spectral lines in the visible region of the electromagnetic spectrum that are emitted by hydrogen atoms when electrons transition from higher energy levels to the second energy level (n=2). The wavelengths of the Balmer series lines fall within the visible range of the spectrum.
