KCN is predominantly ionic and provides cyanide ions in its solution. In the presence of alcoholic KCN alkyl halides gives alkyl cyanides.

C2H5Br + KCN → C2H5CN+KBr

So, the RX that reacts with KCN to give propane nitrile is C2H5Br.
