Supervision, Motivation and leadership
Supervision : It refers to monitoring the progress of work of one’s subordinates and guiding them properly
The roles of supervision are as follows:
Interpersonal Contact with Workers: Day-to-day contact and friendly relations with the workers is maintained by the supervisor. He acts as a guide, friend and philosopher to the workers.
Maintains Discipline: He maintains discipline in the organisation by enforcing rules and regulations. He uses various techniques to maintain discipline among the subordinates.
Motivation: It refers to that process which excites people to work for attainment of the desired objective.
Motivation improves the efficiency of the workers by:
i) Bridging the gap between the ability and the willingness to work.
ii) Stimulating people to action to accomplish desired goals
Leadership: It involves motivation and persuasion in order to achieve the desired goals. A leader is defined as a person who is able to influence other people and inspires them to follow the instructions provided.
