An aircraft executes a horizontal loop at a speed of 720 km/h with its wings banked at 15.What is the radius of the loop?

υ = 720 km/hr = 720 x \(\frac {1000}{3600}\)

= 200 m/s

θ = 15°

From the relation

tan θ = \(\frac{v^2}{rg}\)

⇒ r = \(\frac{v^2}{tan \theta \times g}\) = \(\frac {200 \times200}{tan15° \times10}\)

= 14931 m.
