The earth’s core is known to contain iron. Yet geologists do not regard this as a source of the earth’s magnetism. Why?

The temperature inside the earth is so high that it is impossible for the iron to remain as a magnet and act as a source of magnetic field. The magnetic field due to the earth is considered to be due to the circulating electric currents induced in the iron in the molten state and other conducting materials inside the earth.
