Causes of Soil Pollution: 

1. Excessive use of chemical fertilizers. 

2. Waste from industrial units. 

3. Garbage – waste from the cities and metropolises. 

4. Un – dissolved waste from sewage. 

5. Use of pesticides and insecticides. 

Harmful Consequences of Soil Pollution:

1. Constant decrease in agricultural land. 

2. Major diseases caused by this include dysentery, cholera, eye disease and tuberculosis. 

3. Soil pollution gives rise to other environmental pollutions. 

4. Land pollution has increased the problem of landlessness.
