When Henry and Mrs Bompas are ready to leave for the theatre, he suggests her to take off the diamonds and keep them in the safe of her husband. He tells her that he is too poor to afford diamonds. Thereupon Mrs Bompas tells him that she hates diamonds. She believes in simplicity.
