Draw a tangent to a circle of radius 4 cm from a point, which is 6 cm a part from its centre.

Steps of construction :

(1) Draw a circle with center O and radius 4 cm.

(2) Take a point P, 6 cm a part from its center and meet OP.

(3) Bisect OP at point M.

(4) With M as center and MP as radius, draw a circle that intersects the given circle at A and B.

(5) Join PA and PB.

Hence PA and PB are the required tangents.
