The tropical/hot zone desert forests are located in the western part of the continents between 20°-30° latitudes. Thorny shrubs are found here, which are low in height and have thick leaves, bark and very deep roots. These shrubs can withstand long dry periods. Some short grass are also found here. Such as prickly pear, cactus, catechu, Babool (Acacia), Ber, etc.

This type of vegetation is found in major types of deserts of the world such as North Africa’s, Sahara, South Africa’s Kalahari, North America’s, California, Arizona and Mexico, Asia-UAE. Thar in India and Pakistan and Western Australia. These parts experience very high temperatures, all year round and the average rainfall is less than 50 cms.
