A statistical table is a systematic arrangement of data in columns (i.e. vertical arrangements) and rows (i.e. horizontal arrangements). Tabulation is the presentation of quantitative (numerical) data in a table in the most systematic manner so that the purpose of presentation of data becomes clear. It is the logical and systematic arrangement of classified data in rows and columns under different heads and sub-heads. Tabulation influences the mind of the reader more intelligently than the textual presentation. It makes the data comprehensible and facilitates comparison. It helps in further processing of statistical data and clarifies the object of investigation. It simplifies complex data and represents such data in a minimum possible space.
