Evolution is shaping of various diversities into its best form. It should not be equated with progression. Evolution is a different concept from progression. let us take an example of a big tree with lots of branches in it. Each branch has a sub-branch. Similarly, diversity is like that tree, which has a lot of organisms in it. All these are interrelated because one is evolved from other and will further evolve to form a new species. But just like in that tree, as all the branches are special & equal, all these species or organism are special and unique in its own way.

It is not like that if species B gets evolved from species A, organisms of species A will become extinct or they weren't good enough. It's just that species A was unique in its own way & organisms of species B are good in its own way.

All these species are totally different & all of them are evolved in different time courses. But all of them are considered equal & are placed on same level irrespective of their evolutionary time.

Thus we can say that evolution & progression are two unrelated terms.
