from the city council one person is selected as a council member so, we have to find the probability that it is a woman 

total possible outcomes of selecting a person is ¹⁰C₁ 

therefore n(S)= ¹⁰C₁ 

let E be the event that it is a woman 

n(E)= ⁶C₁ = 6

P(E) = \(\frac{n(E)}{n(S)}\)

P(E) = \(\frac{6}{10}\) = \(\frac{3}{5}\)
