Correct Answer - Option 3 : Statement I is correct, but II is incorrect

Statement I: Thousands of employees die every day in factories due to accidents.

Explanation:

  1. Since May 2020, there have been 30 industrial accidents in India, killing at least 75 workers, according to IndustriALL, a global union of workers.
  2. From 2014 to 2017, 8,004 such incidents occurred in Indian workplaces killing 6,368 employees.
  3. Mining disasters, Fire in mines, Industrial boiler/cylinder explosion, etc. are some of the reasons responsible for the death of employees.

Thus, the statement I is correct.

Statement II: To make an accident-free plant adds to cost and decreases productivity.

Explanation:

  1. Accidents can be prevented by giving proper training to workers, good quality safety products, maintaining good hygiene, posting alert boards, having medical staff on the field, etc.
  2. These measures increase the cost for the firm but increase the productivity of workers as they feel safe and get a feeling of being cared for.

Thus, statement II is incorrect.

Thus, option 3 is the correct answer.
