Correct Answer - Option 4 : 22 years

GIVEN:

Sam's age = 37.5% of Ron's age (3 years ago)

(Sam + Ron)'s average age = 22.5 years (3 years hence)

Joe's age = Ron's age - 5

FORMULA USED:

Average = Sum of observations/Total number of observations

CALCULATION:

37.5% = 3/8

Ron's age 3 years ago = 8x

sam's age 3 years ago = 3x

After 3 years,

(8x + 6) + (3x + 6) = 22.5 × 2

⇒ 11x = 45 -12

⇒ x = 3

Ron's present age = 8 × 3 + 3 = 27 years

Joe's age = 27 - 5 = 22 years

∴ Joe's age is 22 years.
