Solve equations by using the substitution method.

√2x + √3y = 0 

√3x – √8y = 0

Given: 

√2x + √3y = 0 ……. (1) 

√3x – √8y = 0 ……. (2) 

Substitute x = 0 in (1), 

√2(0) + √3y = 0

√3y = 0 

∴ y = 0 

∴ The solution is x = 0, y = 0 

Note: a1x + b1y + c1 = 0 

a2x + b2y + c= 0, if c= c2 = 0 

then, x = 0, y = 0 is a solution.
