8x + 5y = 9 

3x + 2y = 4

Given: 

8x + 5y = 9 ……. (1) 

3x + 2y = 4 …….. (2)

∴ y = 5 

Substituting y = 5 in equation (1) we get 

8x + 5 × 5 = 9 

⇒ 8x = 9 – 25 

x = -16/8 = -2 

∴ The solution is (- 2, 5)
