Find the value of k for which the pair of equations 2x + ky + 3 = 0, 4x + 6y – 5 = 0 represent parallel lines.

2x + ky + 3 = 0 and 4x + 6y – 5 = 0 

∴ a1 = 2, b1 = k, c1 = 3 

a2 = 4, b2 = 6, c2 = -5 

If the given equations are parallel lines, 

then

∴ k = 3
