Correct answer is:  6

O2 (16e ) : 

\(σ_{1s}^{2} \ \ σ_{1s}^{*2}\ \ σ_{2s}^{2}\ \ σ_{2s}^{*2}\ \ σ_{2p_{z}}^{2}\begin{pmatrix} \pi_{2p_{x}}^{2}\\ \pi_{2p_{y}}^{2} \end{pmatrix}\begin{pmatrix} \pi_{2p_{x}}^{*1}\\ \pi_{2p_{x}}^{*1}\end{pmatrix} σ^*{_{2p_{z}}}\)

Total number of e in π* orbitals of \(O_2, O_2^{+},O_2^{-}\)= 2 + 1 + 3 = 6
