\(\begin{vmatrix}-a^2&ab&ac\\ ab&-b^2&bc\\ ca&cb&-c^2\end{vmatrix}\) 

C1, C2, व C3 से क्रमशः a, b तथा c उभयनिष्ठ लेने पर,

=  abc\(\begin{vmatrix}-a&a&a\\ b&-b&b\\ c&c&-c\end{vmatrix}\) 

R1, R2, तथा R3, से क्रमशः a, b तथा c उभयनिष्ठ लेने पर,

=  a2b2c2\(\begin{vmatrix}-1&1&1\\ 1&-1&1\\ 1&1&-1\end{vmatrix}\) 

C1 से (3 – 1) उभयनिष्ठ लेने पर,

= a2b2c2 – 1(1 – 1) – 1(-1 – 1) + 1(1 + 1)]

= a2b2c (0 + 2 + 2)

= 4a2b2c2

= R.H.S.
